Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is based on an ancient manuscript known as the Yoga Korunta, compiled by the sage Vamana Rishi. It is commonly attributed to Sri K. Pattabhi Jois by way of his Satguru, Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya.
To avoid the confusion between Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and the main yoga branch (Ashtanga Yoga), many yoga practitioners have taken to referring to this system as Pattabi Jois's Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.

A system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.
